The Svelte Wallet is the latest wallet to take Kickstarter by storm, and has already smashed it's humble $4,500 goal by 500%, with over a week left to go at the time of writing. Andrew Titensor is the man behind the Svelte, he is an MBA student at the University of Utah, and told us it was this that gave him the motivation to start his own business and launch the Svelte. He went on to say "I'm blown away by the support I've received so far on the kickstarter campaign and am excited to see how it ends up". It would appear he's not the only one excited about this project!
The Svelte wallet is simple at it's core, yet extremely functional, which must be one of the reasons it has proved so popular. The wallet is made of Tyvek, an ultra-strong paper that is waterproof, tear resistant, yet still paper-thin. In fact, Tyvek is a fairly popular material for wallets currently, and it was only the other week we were telling you about the use of Tyvek in the Vinco Wallet.. Whilst the Vinco is great for those who need just a simple case, the Svelte wallet caters to those looking for a fully functional wallet, that is extremely slim and lightweight.
There will be two models of the Svelte wallet eventually: the Express, and the Transit. The Express is the model which is featured in the Kickstarter campaign, whereas the Transit is simply listed as "available soon" on the Svelte website. We'll keep you updated on that one as we get any news, but for now we'll focus on the Svelte Express Wallet.
The Express is a tri-fold wallet, and has room for up to 9 cards, as well as a cash slot in the back. There are 3 card slots, each on one fold inside the wallet, with each designed to hold up to 3 cards. The Express Wallet boasts of being able to fit all international notes, which is promising, as many US designed wallets often cope poorly with our oversized Great British Pounds.
The design of the Svelte Wallet is fairly simple, which suits its slim, minimalist design. The wallet has contrasted stitching and the Svelte logo embossed onto the front, but is left plain other than that. It is currently unclear exactly how many colour designs will be available, but there are at least 6 different versions photographed on the Kickstarter page, so we can assume there will be at least this many options to choose from.
As mentioned previously, the Svelte Wallet has already been extremely popular, so all the early bird deals have now gone, however, the wallet is still available from $24 (around £16). For further information, check out the Svelte Wallet Kickstarter campaign, or view the video below.
